Summer 2019 has been a massive one for Walshy Fire – the Jamaican American, producer/DJ, who is the crowd-pleasing, hype-man-extraordinaire for internationally acclaimed Major Lazer.
In June, Walshy released his first album, aptly called Abeng – the name of a traditional African horn symbolizing freedom.
The album celebrates the intrinsic connections between Africa and the Caribbean through a portfolio of collaborations between top artists from both regions.
Each song, Walshy says, is an ode to pure positive living, which to him is a greatly underserved notion across all musical genres today.
By August, the album’s thoughtful, cultured creativity secured Walshy a global deal with Concord Music Publishing.
